About

The Cedars-Sinai Accelerator is transforming healthcare quality, efficiency, and care delivery by helping entrepreneurs bring their innovative technology products to market.

Real world validation

The Program, based in Los Angeles, California, provides companies with a financial investment, mentorship from more than 300 leading clinicians and executives, access to Cedars-Sinai, and exposure to a broad network of healthcare experts, including health system executives from a wide range of organizations, experienced healthcare entrepreneurs, other industry advisers, and healthcare investors. Since 2016, the accelerator has helped dozens of companies transform healthcare delivery and patient care.

1

WHAT WE DO

Cedars-Sinai Accelerator+ supports the growth and development of early-stage companies focused on improving healthcare and healthcare delivery.

Building a successful company in healthcare takes more than a great idea. At Cedars-Sinai, we help entrepreneurs develop and scale innovative companies through mentorship, guidance, and access to our health system. There is no better way to navigate healthcare’s complexities than to work inside an active medical center—giving companies a deeper understanding of their potential customers and the environment they’re building for.

2

WHAT WE PROVIDE

For each company selected, we provide first-in-class mentorship and networking, as well as financial investment.

Funding is only one part of what we provide. Participant companies value the access to Cedar-Sinai, mentorship, and overall support as much as the financial investment itself. We invest the time and expertise of stakeholders across the health system to advance solutions we believe will meaningfully improve care and care delivery.

3

FORMAT

Startups receive support over a 12-month rolling period, with defined milestones and a curated curriculum including specialized workshops and in-person sessions held quarterly.

Companies receive preliminary data access, 1:1 meetings with subject-matter expert mentors, and guidance from an external advisory panel, in addition to a dedicated co-working space at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. We also offer targeted networking with local VCs and health systems and include follow-on investment evaluation upon successful pilot completion.

FAQ

What stage of company is the right fit?

keyboard_arrow_down

We look for early-stage healthcare startups that are moving beyond concept and toward real-world deployment. Ideal companies:

  • Closely align with the Cedars-Sinai mission of placing patients first
  • Have already raised a seed round of funding
  • Have a team of approximately 4–12 full-time staff
  • Offer first-in-class, best-in-class, or breakthrough solutions nearing commercialization
  • Represent a wide range of healthcare innovation areas, including medical devices, diagnos-tics, and digital health

If your company is demonstrating early traction and is ready to refine, validate, and scale within a leading health system environment, you are likely a strong fit.

What types of companies does the Program look for?

keyboard_arrow_down

We are interested in advancements that can positively impact clinical care delivery, improve the patient experience around healthcare, streamline inefficiencies for providers and staff, and improve the business side of healthcare delivery.

Companies that are pushing the envelope across nearly all aspects of the care delivery are welcomed to apply. Digital health and medical devices represent much of the core of our classes, however, we are highly interested in collaborating with innovative companies representing solutions in biotech, pharmaceutical products, and molecular development. We also welcome companies whose solution addresses the general areas of facility, finance, and human resources.

Since we are a provider-based accelerator, we are not able to support companies with generalized wellness and fitness products or solutions sold directly to the consumer. We welcome companies that already have a product and full-time founders, so we do not accept companies that are still in the idea stage or that have part-time founders.

Our Program is designed to help companies trying to commercialize into the provider system. Our sweet spot is with companies whose core business model is business to business – companies that have a product and are seeking clinical or facility validation, building a business model and constructing an enterprise sales strategy. Through our Program, we aim to find and nurture solutions that can help improve health and healthcare delivery—but we recognize that those don’t always come from within the healthcare space. Companies from outside the traditional healthcare industry often provide provocative and exciting new perspectives that can lead to innovation and market opportunity.

What is the right stage of company for this Program? Are we too far along?

keyboard_arrow_down

Cedars-Sinai Accelerator can be a good fit for companies across the startup spectrum. Our alumni have been across a wide range of stages, from functional prototypes to established commercially deployed products. While most of our companies already have a product and some traction, we have worked with very early stage companies who are pre-product (prototype) as well as those with established recurring revenue.

Funding also varies widely. While our companies, prior to joining our Program, have raised anywhere from a few thousand dollars in seed stage investments to over ten million dollars in Series A funding, the midpoint is typically between $500,000 to $5,000,000.

Ultimately, we are interested in highly promising companies who are in growth mode – talk to us and we can help you determine whether we’re the right fit for you.

Logistics

Do I need to be in Los Angeles to participate?

keyboard_arrow_down

No. Companies do not need to be based in Los Angeles to participate in the program. However, startups are expected to attend one in-person session week each quarter. These on-site weeks are a core part of the experience and include workshops, mentor meetings, and direct engagement with clinical and operational stakeholders.

While relocation is not required, we strongly encourage teams to spend as much time on site as feasible. In-person collaboration with the Cedars-Sinai teams often accelerates relationship-building, pilot execution, and overall program outcomes.

Who needs to participate from my company?

keyboard_arrow_down

The Program works best when at least two founders are fully participating in the Program. We realize, however, that companies may need to have one founder with your company, so we ask that at least at least one co-founder, and two people total, are here five days per week for the full three months of the Program.

Do you provide housing for the participants?

keyboard_arrow_down

We provide a list of possible housing locations, but participants make and pay for their own living arrangements.

What is the Class 10 timeframe?

keyboard_arrow_down
  • Application Deadline: March 31, 2024
  • Program dates: August 12 - October 23, 2024

When and how do I apply?

keyboard_arrow_down
  • Application information can be found The application asks you to provide:
    • Information about your company and your team
    • The market opportunity, the idea, and how you plan to execute it
    • A short video that describes your business
